Each had picked up a guitar at age 13 and later began performing solo or with other artists as part of the local music scene\, so one might say their collaboration was a long time coming but not a moment too soon when the two officially teamed up as a duo to form the Caterwaulers in the spring of 2021. Since then\, they’ve built a diverse repertoire that’s inclusive of singer-songwriter originals and a little bit of everything else from bluesy roots rock to country. Venues\, tours & the world halted to a complete stop\, erasing live music & artists’ existence. With the city mostly in shutdown\, the band naturally came together during jam sessions to pass the time. At the helm is Austin\, TX veteran songwriter\, vocalist and guitarist AJ Vallejo. Together with his long-time neighbors and drinking buddies Bruce Castleberry (guitar)\, Alex Geismar (drums)\, & Joe Fladger (bass)\, Brodie Lane was born. AJ had written & recorded somewhere around 30 life-inspired songs of love & chaos during the shutdown. These songs became the catalyst for the group with their undeniable chemistry & well-versed knowledge on how to build a dangerous musical force.
